SAN ANTONIO – HBU bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to send the match to a fifth set, but Incarnate Word held on for 3-2 (25-23, 25-23, 18-25, 16-25, 15-12) victory over the Huskies in Southland Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon at McDermott Convocation Center.

Jessica Wooten posted a double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs for HBU (17-8, 8-4 SLC), while redshirt freshman right side
Ashtyn Richey hit .520 with 15 kills. Freshman outside hitter
Mikayla Vivens sparked the Huskies off the bench with 10 kills and three blocks. Senior middle blocker
Blair Gillard added eight kills and seven blocks, while junior middle blocker
Kayla Davenport also blocked seven. Freshman setter
Abby Gargus had 42 assists, five kills, four digs three aces and three blocks to pace the offense, while senior libero
Hailey Erickson led defensively with 21 digs. Senior outside hitter
Bailey Banks had 15 digs and sophomore defensive specialist
Hannah Lewis had 14.
Julia Monday had 15 kills for UIW (5-14, 4-8), while Sarea Alexander had 10 kills and seven blocks and Autumn Lockley had 10 kills and 10 digs. Bryaunea Hall added seven kills and five blocks. Madison Williams handed out 43 assists to go along with four kills, eight digs and seven blocks. Madelynn Miller came up with 28 digs for the Cardinals.
HBU hit .196 for the match, after hitting .088 through the first two sets, and UIW hit .155. The Huskies outdug the Cardinals, 75-69, outblocked them, 16-14, and led in aces 9-5.
The Huskies will play their final four regular-seasons matches at home, beginning with Central Arkansas Thursday at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
