HOUSTON – HBU men's basketball begins the home portion of its Southland Conference schedule against the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana after opening conference play with a road split against the preseason favorite and the three-time defending conference champions. The Huskies (5-7, 1-1 SLC) are scoring 77.9 points and pulling down 37.7 rebounds per game, averaging nearly four more boards than their opponents. Senior
Colter Lasher is the team's top scorer, averaging 15 per game on 46.6 percent shooting. Lasher is currently at 959 career points, just 41 away from 1,000, and his 100 career three-pointers are good for 10
th all-time at HBU. In the HBU win at Sam Houston State to open conference play, the senior poured in 22 points and was 4-6 from three.

Reveal Chukwujekwu is averaging 12 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game. His 7.5 rebounds per contest mark is good for sixth-best in the conference. In his last four games, Chukwujekwu has recorded three double-doubles and tied a career-best with 14 rebounds against Stephen F. Austin. During that four-game span, he is averaging 16.5 points and 11.25 boards.
In their last outing, the Huskies fell at defending conference champ Stephen F. Austin by a 61-51 margin. HBU had a rough game shooting the ball, connecting on just 31.4 percent (16-51) from the floor and 20 percent (3-15) from beyond the arc. The Huskies entered the half even with the Lumberjacks at 26-26 but SFA pulled away late to put the game out of reach. Chukwujekwu led all players with 19 points and 14 rebounds while sophomore
Josh Ibarra added six points and 10 rebounds.
Southeastern Louisiana (9-6, 2-0 SLC) comes into Thursday's game following a pair of home Southland Conference victories over Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word. Most recently, the Lions defeated UIW 74-63 behind a 24-point and six-assist effort from sophomore Marlain Veal. Southeastern won despite UIW enjoying a better day shooting the ball, helped by committing a season-low nine turnovers.
Veal leads the Lions with 14.7 points per game and is fifth in the conference with an average of 4.3 assists. Davon Hayes is averaging 13.1 points per game and knocking down threes at a 45.3 percent (29-64) clip while Moses Greenwood pitches in 11.9 points per game. Greenwood, Dominic Nelson and James Currington lead Southeastern on the boards, averaging 5.9, 7.3 and 6.5 per game, respectively. As a team, Southeastern is out-scoring opponents by a 6.1-point margin and hold a 3.9 advantage on opponents in rebounding.
