HAMMOND, La. – HBU will look to make it 2-0 on the season against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions when they visit the University center on the SLU campus on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Husky fans can catch the action live with Lonnie King on the Legacy Sports Network live broadcast available at HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (7-10, 3-4 SLC) come into the matchup having dropped three-in-a-row, including their last outing at New Orleans by a score of 72-64. Junior Josh Ibarra led the Huskies with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and added six rebounds. Reveal Chukwujekwu and Braxton Bonds both added 12 points with Chukwujekwu leading the team with nine rebounds and Bonds collecting a game-high six steals. Free throws were the difference maker in the game with UNO attempting 44 from the charity stripe to the Huskies' 14 attempts.
 
After his six steal effort on Thursday, Bonds is now 30th in the nation in steals per game with a 2.06 average, the third-best mark in the conference. The sophomore is averaging three per game in SLC play. Ibarra is now shooting 69.4 percent (43-of-62) in conference play, the best mark in the conference, and is averaging 11.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for the season.
 
Southeastern (11-8, 4-2 SLC) has won its last two and has won 15-straight home games dating back to last season. In their most recent win over McNeese, the Lions were led by Moses Greenwood who finished with19 points and seven boards while Devon Hayes added 16 points.
 
Marlain Veal leads SLU in scoring with 13.6 points per game and is fifth in the conference in assists with a 4.4 average. Greenwood is second on the team with 12.6 points per game and is third in the SLC in field goal percentage at 59 percent, just behind Ibarra.
 
The last time the two teams met was January 5 in Houston at Sharp Gym with the Huskies coming out on top, 81-74. Four Huskies reached double-digits in scoring in the win with Colter Lasher leading the way with 22 points while Ibarra finished with 16. Bonds had 11 and Alex Fountain ended the night with 10. HBU has now won three-straight against the Lions and holds a 5-4 advantage in the all-time series.
 
The Huskies are at home for their next game on January 26 when they host Nicholls for the only meeting this season between the two teams. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and the HBU coaches will be participating in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers week to benefit the American Cancer Association, wearing sneakers instead of dress shoes to raise awareness and raise funds to support cancer prevention and treatment.
