TULSA, Oklahoma – Tulsa's Christina Holmes came off the bench to score a pair of goals as the Golden Hurricane handed HBU a 4-1 defeat in non-conference women's soccer Sunday at Hurricane Stadium.
"It was another day where we played hard and just didn't get the result," HBU head coach
Misty Jones said. "It was a weekend where we were able to get everyone some playing time. We saw some great things and then some areas where we need to get better. We are definitely excited to get back to Houston and play on our home turf."
Senior forward
Morgan Dean scored her first goal of the season for the Huskies (1-5-0), with senior defender
Elizabeth Adams adding the assist. Dean took two shots, both on goal, while six other HBU players had one scoring opportunity each. Junior midfielder

Allison Abendschein each had a shot on goal. Junior goalkeeper
Katie Turner played all 90 minutes and made eight saves.
Both of Holmes' shots on goal found the net, while Rachel Thun led Tulsa (3-2-1) with four shots, three on goal, including one score and an assist. Tana Dake scored the other goal for the Golden Hurricane, while McKenzie McAdams and Alyssa Kaiser each tallied an assist. Darienne Chapman took three shots, two of which were on goal. Goalkeeper Rebecca Defer shut the Huskies out in the first half, making two saves, then Courtney McKeon took over in the second frame, allowing a goal and making one save.
Tulsa outshot HBU, 29-8, with 13 shots on goal to the Huskies' four. The Golden Hurricane also held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-1.
Tulsa got the scoring started on Dake's unassisted goal from 18 yards out on the left side in the 18
th minute. Less than a minute later, McAdams found Thun from 12 yards away to give the Golden Hurricane a 2-0 lead, which they would take into the break.
Two minutes into the second half, Kaiser crossed a pass to Holmes, who finished from eight yards away for her first goal of the match. After Adams cleared the ball, Dean struck from 18 yards out to put the Huskies on the board in the 51
st minute and make the score 3-1. In the 67
th minute, Thun passed to Holmes 12 yards out for the finish and her second goal.
The Huskies return home this week, hosting Prairie View A&M Friday at 7 p.m. at Sorrels Field. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Prairie View, but renovations to the Panthers' stadium have not been completed.
