MSOC: Oral Roberts Edges Huskies in OT, 1-0

Eagles score golden goal in 93rd minute.

TULSA, Oklahoma – After battling scoreless through regulation, Oral Roberts' Baptiste Vandeputte netted the golden goal in the 93rd minute as the Eagles escaped with a 1-0, overtime victory over HBU in non-conference men's soccer Sunday night at Case Soccer Complex.

"This was a tough loss tonight," HBU head coach Steve Jones said. "The boys battled hard, had some good chances to score in both the first and the second halves, but just couldn't find the back of the net. The defense, along with (goalkeeper) Chance (Pope), did a great job of keeping them from scoring in regulation. I though we had a lot of great moments of soccer that we played both defensively and offensively, today was just not our day."

Senior midfielder Erick Aragon and junior midfielder Marc-Anthone took all four shots for the Huskies (2-3-1), with two each and none on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Chance Pope made four saves.

Junior Chavez took four shots, two on goal, for ORU (3-3-0), while Santiago Riveros took three shots, one on goal, and tallied the assist for the Eagles. Vandeputte came off the bench to tally the only goal of the match. Goalkeeper Parker Johnson turned in the clean sheet, but did not have to make any saves.

ORU was awarded a corner kick in the 93rd minute with Riveros serving a pass in the box to Vandeputte, who ended the match with his first goal of the season.

The Eagles took 11 shots, six on goal, and held the advantage in corner kicks, 6-4.

HBU will play its final non-conference match at Memphis next Sunday at 6 p.m., before beginning Western Athletic Conference play against Air Force at home on Sept. 30.
