HOUSTON – Weber State hit .287 for the match to hand HBU a 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-19) defeat in the volleyball season opener at the Marriott Houston Westchase Invitational Friday night at Sharp Gym.

Melissa Fuchs each had eight kills, with Fuchs adding eight digs. Junior outside hitter
Bailey Banks had seven kills and led the Huskies (0-1) with 12 digs. Senior setter

Hailey Erickson had eight digs and three service aces.
Rylin Roberts hit .353 with 13 kills and only one error for WSU (1-0), while Amanda Varley had 10 kills and three blocks. Taylor Christensen posted 30 assists and 10 digs, while Jesse Hover led the Wildcats with 13 digs. Megan Thompson was in on seven of WSU's 11 blocks.
WSU had 36 kills and only nine errors in 94 attempts, while HBU hit .056 (31/25/107). The Wildcasts clipped the Huskies in the dig department, 44-43, and outblocked them 11-3.
In the first match of the tournament, Houston defeated Louisiana, 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-19).
Saturday's action begins with Houston and Weber State at 10 a.m., followed by HBU and Louisiana at noon. The tournament wraps up with the evening session of Weber State-Louisiana at 4:30, then HBU hosting Houston at 7 p.m.
