Buy Photos HereHOUSTON – The HBU softball team fell 2-1 to Texas State in a pitcher's duel on Wednesday afternoon at Husky Field.
Senior pitcher
Laci Belovsky (6-12) took the hard-luck loss for the Huskies (10-20), scattering six hits and two runs in a complete-game effort, her 13th of the season. The native of Conroe, Texas, walked three and struck out four Bobcats (24-15).
Junior Quincy Charleston (3-4) earned the win with one and two-third innings of scoreless relief, recording three strikeouts. Sophomore starter Randi Rupp gave up one run and fanned nine in a no-decision.
Senior third baseman
Shay Orsak made the most out of her one hit in the game, knocking a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. The homer, coming as part of 1-for-3 performance, was the first of the season for Orsak.

After Orsak's blast in the bottom of the first, Belovsky held Texas State scoreless through five innings.
The Bobcats tied the game, 1-1, in the top of the sixth on a two-out double from sophomore catcher Sara Rupp. Junior third baseman Corrina Liscano singled through the left side with one out, before coming home two batters later.
Texas State sophomore Braegan Hamilton opened the seventh with a pinch-hit double into the right-center gap, before advancing to third on a single to the pitcher from junior left fielder Kimberlin Naivar. After Naivar stole second base, Hamilton scored what later proved to be the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly from sophomore shortstop Ariel Ortiz.
HBU will close its four-game homestand with a three-game series against Stephen F. Austin across April 8-9.
