BATON ROUGE – The HBU beach volleyball team went 1-2 on the opening day of the Battle on the Bayou, falling 5-0 to TCU and 4-1 to No. 18 Tulane, and defeating New Orleans, 4-1, in the Battle on the Bayou on Saturday at Mango's Beach Volleyball Club.
"This tournament has been a great opportunity for us to test where we stand as a young beach program," head coach
Trent Herman said. "The weather today brought added challenges with a weather delay, but it was great to see how the girls responded. Our players have done a great job continuing to grow their games this season."
The Huskies (7-11) bounced back from their opening match loss against TCU (17-6) to defeat UNO (3-16).

Ashlee Vann, all picked up straight sets.
Kayla Armer and
Haley Durham came back to win in three sets, 18-21, 21-13, 16-14.
HBU closed the day falling 4-1 to Tulane (20-15) with Armer and Durham winning the No. 3 pairing. The match was not a part of the tournament schedule.
The Huskies will close their participation in the tournament and their inaugural season with two matches on Sunday. HBU will face No. 16 New Mexico State at 10 a.m., before seeing host No. 9 LSU in a 1 p.m. first serve.
