Live StatsGame NotesHOUSTON – A winning streak will have to end Saturday when HBU and Stephen F. Austin take the floor Saturday at 4 p.m. from Sharp Gym.
HBU is looking for its first three-game winning streak of the season while the Ladyjacks are on a current three-game winning stretch.
SFA leads the all-time series, 7-1, but HBU won the most-recent meeting, 88-81, last March in the Southland Conference semifinals behind
Tayler Jefferson's 29 points on a career-high six 3-pointers.
Last time out, HBU (10-10 overall, 5-5 SLC) hit a season-high 53 percent from the floor against Division I opponents and hit seven 3-pointers as the Huskies won for the first time in Corpus Christi, 73-59, Wednesday night over the Islanders.
Rachel Arthur led four Huskies in double figures, with 16 points.
Anna Strickland nearly posted a triple-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.
Heidi Sihvola (13) and
Monet Neal (12) rounded out the foursome. HBU outscored TAMUCC, 28-10, in a decisive third quarter, shooting 64 percent in the process. On the season, Strickland is 4th nationally in both rebounding and double-doubles, with 13.4 and 16, respectively. She is also second in the SLC in blocks (1.9), fourth in steals (2.2), 12th in assists (2.8). As a team, HBU is fifth in scoring offense (69.9) and sixth in scoring defense (63.6).
Stephen F. Austin (10-10, 4-5) ran its winning streak to three games following a 68-52 win over Northwestern State Thursday night. On the season, Taylor Ross is fourth in the conference with 15.7 points per game. Taylor Schippers and Stevi Parker follow with 11.0 and 10.4 points per contest, respectively. Parker is the top rebounder for the Ladyjacks, as her 7.9 boards a game put her T-5th in the SLC. Schippers is third in the conference with 3.7 assists per game. As a team, SFA is fourth in scoring offense (66.0) and fifth in scoring defense (63.3).
The fan with the most school spirit and makes the most noise will be given a $100 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings.
