HOUSTON – HBU head men's soccer coach
Steve Jones and his staff have added two more additions to their 2016 roster, brothers Dequan Thomas and Khalil Thomas, to National Letters of Intent.
"We are very excited to have the Thomas brothers sign with us for next year," said Jones. "These two young men come from one of the top clubs out of Toronto, Canada."
Dequan and Khalil are natives of Brampton, Ontario, and attended St. Marguerite d'Youville in Brampton. The brothers both played club for Vaughan Azzurri and head coach Patrice Gheisar. The team won the 2016 Disney Showcase, going undefeated in the process.
"Dequan is a utility type of player that plays with his older brother on the Vaughan SC," stated Jones. "Dequan has speed, athleticism and excellent soccer skills. He will give us options as an attacking outside back with speed and good defending as well as the ability to get forward. He could also be a winger or defensive midfielder. We are looking forward to Dequan being with us in the fall and seeing all of the options that he will provide for us.
"Khalil is a versatile defender who plays for the Vaughan SC," said Jones. "Khalil has great athleticism and speed coupled by some very good technical and distribution ability. He will provide us several options along our back four, be it at the center back or the wide positions. We are excited he will be joining us and helping make our defense a lot stingier in giving up goals."
This marks the sixth and seventh signees for the Huskies, as five were initially inked earlier this month.
