HOUSTON – HBU faces off against the Peacocks of Saint Peter's in men's basketball action this Wednesday in Sharp Gym with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. Husky fans can listen to the action live thanks to Lonnie King and the Legacy Sports Network live audio broadcast available at HBUHuskies.com.
According to NCAA RPI reporting, the Huskies (2-4) have played the third most-difficult schedule in the nation to this point in the season and their NCAA Division I opponents have a combined winning percent of .714, the fifth-highest opponent winning percentage in the nation. HBU will face a Peacocks (4-3) squad that is coming off a win over MAAC foe Manhattan but has yet to win a true road game this season.
In HBU's last game, the Huskies fell to crosstown foe Rice, 90-77, at Tudor Fieldhouse. That game saw Rice attempt 33 free throws to HBU's 11 and saw HBU get called for 12 more fouls than the Owls. Seniors
Colter Lasher and
Reveal Chukwujekwu paced the Huskies offensively with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Alex Fountain added 11 while
Josh Ibarra finished with10 points and six rebounds.
The Huskies are currently 15
th in the nation in offensive rebounding, averaging 14.5 per contest, and their 86 points per game is 18
th-highest in the country. Lasher is leading the way with an average of 14.2 points per game and is just two three-pointers away from joining the top-10 in career three-pointers made at HBU.
Saint Peter's has already played a pair of conference games and sits at 1-1 in the MAAC. In their most recent win over Manhattan, the Peacocks were led by senior post Quadir Welton with 18 points and eight boards. Senior Trevis Wyche had 17 while Antwon Portley added 15. Welton is averaging 17.6 points and 8.4 boards per outing, connecting on 56.6 percent from the floor. Nick Griffin is shooting 43.6 percent from beyond the arc and putting up 11.3 points per game.
In their only true road game of the season, the Peacocks lost at Fordham by a score of 63-41.
The Huskies return to the road for their next game, traveling to Bloomington, Ind. to take on the ninth-ranked Indiana Hoosiers at 4 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, Dec. 10. That game will be aired on the Big Ten Network.
