ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On Monday evening at WisePies Arena, the HBU men's basketball team dropped its second game of the season to the New Mexico Lobos by a score of 95-79.

The Huskies (0-2) kept things close during the opening minutes, trailing 8-6 at the first media timeout but a 26-9 run gave New Mexico (2-0) a 34-15 lead. A pair of back-to-back threes from Colter Lasher and Jalen Weber pulled the HBU deficit down to 13. The Lobos then extended their lead back to 19 by the end of the half thanks to 72 percent shooting from the floor.

HBU came out firing in the second half with a 15-7 run capped by a pair of Braxton Bonds free throws that brought the Huskies within 11. As the half wore on, New Mexico pushed the lead back to 19 before the Huskies closed the gap to 82-69 following a Jalon Gates four-point play with 3:51 to go. Despite cutting the lead to 11 multiple times in the second half, HBU was unable to bring the New Mexico advantage back down to single digits. The Huskies outscored the Lobos 48-45 in the second stanza.

Lasher led the way for the Huskies, finishing the night with 19 points on 7-17 shooting from the floor, including 5-12 from beyond the arc. Weber finished with 13 points while Gates totaled 10 as both freshmen connected on 3-4 from three. Bonds was a perfect 4-4 from the field for 11 points and tied for the team-lead with five rebounds.

New Mexico's Tim Williams led all players in scoring with 31 points with a near-perfect night, connecting on 10-11 field goals and 11-12 free throws while also pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds. New Mexico held a 33-25 advantage on the boards.

HBU ended the game shooting 42.9 percent (27-63) from the field and 43.3 percent (13-30) from behind the arc. The Lobos shot 62.2 percent from the floor. Free throws played a big role in the game as UNM attempted 42 from the charity stripe compared to the Huskies' 19 attempts.

The Huskies are set to play their home-opener on Friday, November 18 against Dallas Christian at 7:00 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
