HOUSTON – In a key match in the conference race down the stretch, HBU faces Sam Houston State on Dig Pink! Night in Southland volleyball Thursday at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
The Huskies will be wearing pink uniforms for the match, so fans are encouraged to wear pink to Sharp. Dig Pink! t-shirts will be sold at the door for $10. Donations to the Side-Out Foundation will also be accepted.
The Side-Out Foundation was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and to have them work toward the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Side-Out supports teams nationwide in their volleyball tournaments, clinics and other fundraising efforts. The funds are contributed to organizations which serve cancer patients, whether it be in the form of research, medical services or patient support. For more information visit side-out.org/about.

SHSU (11-11, 5-4) enters the match in fifth and are led by Jordyn Vaughn with 3.28 kills and 2.38 digs per set and Brooke White with 3.16 kills and 2.26 digs per set. Taylor Cunningham adds 2.42 kills per set and leads the Bearkats with 0.79 blocks per set. Michelle Griffith averages 9.43 assists per set and Breanna Homer leads SHSU with 2.86 digs per set.
The Huskies also host Stephen F. Austin this weekend, with a 1 p.m. first serve Saturday at Sharp Gym.
