THIBODAUX, Louisiana – HBU played its third-straight five-set match and escaped with a 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-17, 24-26, 15-13) victory on the road against Nicholls in Southland Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon at Stopher Gym.
 
Senior setter 
Kayla Armer posted a career-high 62 assists to go along with 11 digs and three kills for the Huskies (16-10, 7-3 SLC). Junior outside hitter 
Bailey Banks hit .396 and recorded 25 kills and 17 digs, while senior right side 
Ashlee Vann hit .459 with 21 kills. Senior outside hitter 
Melissa Fuchs chipped in with 12 kills and 11 digs, while junior middle blocker 
Blair Gillard hit .348 with 10 kills and three blocks. Junior libero 
Hailey Erickson led HBU defensively with 22 digs.
 
Kaci Eaton led the Colonels (6-20, 1-9) with 17 kills, while Kali Schwartz added 16 and four blocks. Emily Weimer contributed 13 kills and Lucija Barac handed out 40 assists. Alexa Perry had 21 digs for Nicholls, while Jennifer Olivarez had 17 and Stephanie Tobison had 15 with three aces.
 
The Huskies hit .329 for the match, while the Colonels hit .283. HBU outdug Nicholls, 83-69, but were outblocked, 8-5. Both teams served up eight aces.
 
HBU returns home to face Sam Houston State for its Dig Pink! Match Thursday at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym, followed by Stephen F. Austin Saturday at 1 p.m.
