SAN ANTONIO – Down two sets to one, HBU forced a decisive fifth, but fell to Incarnate Word, 3-2 (25-17, 21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 18-20) in Southland Conference volleyball Saturday at McDermott Convocation Center.

Blair Gillard hit .519 with 16 kills and seven blocks for the Huskies (14-10, 5-3 SLC), while senior right side Ashlee Van had 13 kills. Senior outside hitter
Melissa Fuchs posted a double-double with 11 kills, a team-leading 18 digs and five blocks. Junior outside hitter
Bailey Banks was limited to eight kills and 13 digs. Senior setter
Kayla Armer recorded 45 assists and 12 digs.
Bryaunea Hall led the Cardinals (7-13, 3-5) with 16 kills and seven blocks, while Autumn Lockley added 13 kills and a match-high 24 digs. Shaina Garza chipped in with 10 kills and 12 digs, while Madison Williams had 28 assists and five service aces and Sierra Moses dished out 24 assists. Claudia Hernandez contributed defensively with 20 digs.
UIW hit .164 for the match, while holding HBU to .148. The Cardinals outdug the Huskies, 72-69, and outblocked them, 13-10.
The Huskies will be on the road again next week, against McNeese Thursday in Lake Charles, Louisiana, then against Nicholls Saturday in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
