HOUSTON – Fueled by three players scoring in double figures, the HBU men's basketball team pushed past Southeastern Louisiana, 77-58, on Saturday night inside Sharp Gym.

Senior Anthony Odunsi led the Huskies (8-7, 3-0 SLC) offensively, totaling 18 points and eight assists. The native of Sugar Land, Texas, finished 4-for-11 from the floor with one hit from distance to compliment a 9-for-11 showing at the free throw line.

Sophomore Josh Ibarra netted 13 points against the Lions (2-13, 0-2 SLC), while junior Reveal Chukwujekwu finished with 12 points. Senior Jourdan Stickler led HBU and tied his career-high with three splashes from beyond the arc to finish with nine points.

Junior Alex Fountain, making his second consecutive start, finished with seven points and a career-high nine rebounds. In total, 10 Huskies played and scored against SELA.

HBU shot 45.3 percent (24-53) from the field, 36.8 percent (7-19) from 3-point land and 73.3 percent (22-30) at the line.

Both teams traded points early on, as the Huskies held a 5-4 edge two minutes in. However, HBU's ability to finish at the rim quickly helped the team double up the Lions. The Huskies converted four layups, adding a free throw from Ibarra to complete an and-one opportunity, over the next 2:08 to take a 14-7 advantage. The lead built as high as 19 points, before HBU took a 43-24 difference into halftime.

In the second half, the Huskies' lead never fell below eight points. Both team's played even, 34-34, over the final 20 minutes to arrive at the 77-58 final.

The victory marks the first for HBU over SELA as a member of the Southland Conference, as the team is off to its best start in the league with a 3-0 record to sit tied with Sam Houston State atop the standings. The win also improves the Huskies to 7-0 in Sharp Gym for the first time since the 2007-08 season when they finished 8-0 on their home court. HBU is over .500 for the first time on the season, sitting at 8-7 overall.

The Huskies will close its three-game homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 13, hosting Nicholls in a 7 p.m. tip.
