Fans are encouraged to wear white to the game in support of the Huskies. HBU, playing its non-conference finale, is coming off a perfect showing in its recent three-game, conference road swing with victories at New Orleans (73-69), Central Arkansas (72-61) and Lamar (92-79). Overall, the Huskies are winners of eight straight, tying the program's best streak since the 2012-13 season.
In the team's last time out, HBU placed five players in double figures at Lamar, as sophomore
Josh Ibarra recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Senior
Anthony Odunsi led all with 19 points, while junior
Colter Lasher turned in 15 points in his return to the starting lineup. Junior
Reveal Chukwujekwu and freshman
Asa Cantwell registered 12 and 11 points, respectfully.
Statistically, HBU is first in the Southland Conference in blocks (5.1 per game), second in field goal percentage (.467) and third in scoring (78.1 per game).
On the season, freshman
Isaiah Robinson is first in SLC in blocks (2.2 per game), ranking third in the country among all freshman and 29th overall.
Ibarra sits second in the conference in field goal percentage (.634), fourth in blocks (1.5 per game) and fifth in rebounding (7.1 per game), while Odunsi ranks fourth in scoring (17.0 per game) and sixth in free throw percentage (.842). Odunsi is tied for seventh overall at the NCAA Division I level with 133 made free throws.
The Huskies and Hillsdale (10-8) will meet for the second time in program history when the two teams take the court in the midweek tilt. HBU defeated the Saints 89-53 last season.
Hillsdale is the fourth non-conference opponent for the Huskies out of the National Christian College Athletic Association this season. HBU defeated NCCAA members Crowley's Ridge (102-62), Arlington Baptist (110-53) and Ecclesia (101-47) prior to starting SLC play.
Following Monday's tilt, HBU will return to conference action and host Sam Houston State in a "Retro Night" on Saturday, as the Huskies will wear uniforms from the 1970s. Fans are encouraged to join in their throwback garb as well.
