Live StatsGame NotesCONWAY, Ark. – After going 2-1 on its home stand, the HBU women's basketball team begins a season-high four-game road stretch Wednesday at Central Arkansas. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. from the Farris Center.
Central Arkansas leads the all-time series, 4-2. HBU snapped a four-game series streak for UCA with a 58-37 win over the Sugar Bears on Jan. 15, 2015, in Houston, behind
Shanice Steenholdt's 25 points.
HBU (7-7 overall, 2-2 SLC) went 2-1 on its three-game conference home stand. Following a 71-64 loss to McNeese State Monday, the Huskies rebounded to defeat Nicholls (80-71) and Southeastern Louisiana (64-56), overcoming a 14-point deficit to knock off the Lady Lions.
Anna Strickland posted three double-doubles on the week and is now fifth nationally in both rebounding (13.1) and double-doubles (10). She continues to lead the SLC in rebounding, is 14th in scoring (13.1), third in both field-goal percentage (45.6) and blocked shots (1.5), and fourth in steals (2.1).
Monet Neal leads the team with 14.0 points per game in conference play and is second on the season with 12.4.
Rachel Arthur follows with 12.0 as she is shooting a team-best 50.8 percent from the floor. As a team, HBU is shooting 40 percent from the floor compared to 41 percent for its opponents.
Central Arkansas (13-2, 3-1) ran its winning streak to three games following a 74-49 win over Lamar Monday night, led by Maggie Proffitt's game-high 26 points. The Sugar Bears' only losses this season came at Tennessee and home to Abilene Christian. On the season, Proffitt is sixth in the SLC with 14.2 points per game and seventh with 2.2 three-point field goals per contest. Raquel Logan is third in the conference in rebounding (8.3) and fifth in blocked shots per game (1.2). The Sugar Bears lead the SLC in scoring defense, allowing 47.5 points per game. As a team, UCA is shooting 40 percent from the floor compared to 33 percent for its opponents.
Following the contest, HBU heads to the Big Easy to take on New Orleans in an ESPN3 tilt on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. from Lakefront Arena.
