Live StatsMatch NotesEDINBURG, Texas – After a 1-1-0 opening weekend to the regular season, the HBU men's soccer team begins the front end of back-to-back tournaments this weekend, beginning with the UT-Rio Grande Valley Tournament Sept. 4-6.
HBU will face two first-time opponents in IPFW (Friday, 4:30 pm) and Buffalo (Sunday, 4:30 pm). Live stats will be available for all matches of the tournament.
HBU played some of its best soccer and nearly outshot host Bradley 2-to-1, but it was the Braves who came away as the victor, 1-0, Aug. 30.
Philip Poser made three saves in the tough loss between the pipes and is tied-for-5th in the WAC with a 0.50 goals-against average, while playing in the second-most minutes among WAC goalkeepers.
George Kelley leads the Huskies with two goals and four points.
Marcelo Acuna has three points on a goal and an assist, while
Marc- Anthone has a helper.
IPFW is 0-2-0 on the season following a 1-0 loss to visiting Western Michigan Aug. 30. Jose Rodriguez and Andy O'Donoghue each have a goal for the Mastadons. Raphael Kotzock is 0-2-0 with a 1.92 GAA and a .429 save percentage.
Buffalo is 3-0-0 on the young season, with the most recent win being a 4-2 home victory over in-city rival, Canisius. The Bulls play UT-Rio Grande Valley Friday before facing HBU. Scott Doney has been on a tear, as he leads the team with three goals and eight points. Russell Cicerone has seven points on a pair of goals and three assists. Cameron Hogg is 3-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA, a .833 save percentage, and one shutout.
Following the tournament, the Huskies head to the Pacific Northwest to take part in the Gonzaga Invitational in Spokane, Wash., Sept. 11-13. HBU will face Milwaukee Sept. 11 at 2 pm central and Hartwick Sept. 13 at 6 pm central.
