HOUSTON – Central Arkansas jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back as the Bears run-ruled HBU, 11-1 in five innings, Saturday afternoon from Husky Field.
Shay Orsak,
Libby Brown, and
Kay Schroeder each had a hit for HBU (12-29 overall, 5-17 SLC). Brown had the team's RBI while
Madison Vonhagel had the Huskies' run.
Laci Belovsky (9-12) took the loss in the circle, as she lasted just two-thirds of an inning.
Shannon O'Connor struck out two in 4.1 innings.
Sam Forrest and Hannah Stirton each had three hits to lead UCA (31-16, 16-5). Stirton had a game-high three RBIs. Kylee Studioso tossed a complete-game three hitter, as she struck out three and walked two.
Central Arkansas batted around the first inning, registering six hits and giving Studioso an early 5-0 lead. Audrey Pratt had a two-run single in the inning.
Orsak led off the bottom of the inning with a double, but the Huskies couldn't bring her home.
The Bears added another run in the top of the second, but not without a fantastic diving effort in left by
Nicole Shedd. UCA scored in every inning, with single runs in the second, third, and fifth innings, and a three-spot in the fourth.
HBU got on the board in the bottom of the third when Brown's RBI double brought home Vonhagel from first.
HBU plays at Texas Southern Tuesday, April 28 at 4 pm from Memorial Park.
