Shay Orsak and
Melissa Herman each went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead HBU (10-24).
Caitlin Gunn went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Shannon O'Connor took the loss in the circle, as she gave up seven hits, nine runs (six earned), and seven walks with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched.
Laci Belovsky tossed the final 1.2 innings and gave up one hit, one run, and four walks with one strikeout.
Eight different players had a hit to lead Baylor (30-9). Sydney Christensen went 1-for-1 with a game-high four RBIs. Kendall Potts started and took a no-decision in the circle, as she gave up seven hits, three runs, and one walk with three strikeouts in 3.1 innings. Sarah Beth Toben earned the win in relief, as she tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless ball. Linsey Hays also threw a hitless inning.
HBU drew first blood in the top of the first, as Orsak started things off with a single up the middle. She would later score on Herman's RBI single to left.
Baylor went down in order in the bottom of the first, but would erupt for five runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-1 lead. Shelby Fruidenberg's leadoff homer tied the game and the Bears would take advantage of loading the bases with nobody out, scoring four more times before the Huskies got out of the inning. The Bears added three in the bottom of the third with one swing of the bat as Christensen hit a two-out, three-run homer to left.
HBU got two of the runs back in the next half inning, as Gunn's RBI double down the left-field line brought home
Kay Schroeder. One batter later, Orsak's sacrifice fly allowed
Cecilia Bauer to cross home to make the score, 8-3.
HBU plays at Texas State Wednesday night at 6 pm.
