TAMUCC leads the all-time series, 4-1, but HBU won the most-recent meeting, 59-54, last month in Sharp Gym.
HBU (11-16 overall, 5-11 SLC) got a game-high 18 points from
Tayler Jefferson and nearly a double-double from
Erin McGarrachan, but the Huskies fell in their home finale to Stephen F. Austin, 69-57, Saturday.
Jefferson shot 7-of-14 from the floor and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc to lead all players. McGarrachan finished with 12 points and was tied for the game high of eight rebounds.
Heidi Sihvola set a new career high with four steals. HBU led at the break, 38-34, but was outscored, 35-19, and only shot 24 percent in the second half.
Rachel Arthur is 22nd in the Southland with 10.9 points per game, while Jefferson is 28th with 10.2. Jefferson is seventh with 3.3 assists per game.
Anna Strickland is second in the conference with 1.9 blocked shots per game and is sixth with 8.2 rebounds per contest.
As a team, HBU leads the conference with a 44.7 field-goal percentage and a 29.3 three-point percentage defense. The Huskies are second in rebounding margin, blocked shots, and assists.
TAMUCC (14-13, 10-6) has won two straight following a 60-52 home win over Sam Houston State Saturday. The Islanders are tied-for-fourth in the conference standings.
Shay Weaver is fifth in the conference with 15.7 points per game. Olivia Fouty is 14th with 12.1 points per game and is fourth averaging 8.7 rebounds per contest. Jennifer Ramirez is tied with Jefferson as she averages 3.3 assists per game. The Islanders' shot blocker is Ashanti Plummer, who averages 1.2 swats per game and is seventh in the conference.
As a team, TAMUCC leads the conference with a 37.7 field-goal percentage defense and a +6.1 rebounding margin.
After the contest, HBU concludes the regular season at Incarnate Word Saturday at 2 pm.
