Trent Herman has announced the hiring of
Cameron Sitler as assistant volleyball coach for both the indoor and sand programs Thursday.
"Cameron will be a great addition to our staff and our department," Herman said. "He will have a huge impact in the gym and the development of the new sand program. Cameron is also an aggressive recruiter who will handle a wide variety of responsibilities. His passion and enthusiasm for the indoor and sand games will benefit our student-athletes immensely."
Sitler was the assistant coach at Texas-Pan American for the past five seasons and served as High Performance Coach and developed the Sting Sand Volleyball Program in 2014. He had also been a club coach and tier trainer for Rio Grand Valley Juniors since 2011 and served on the 2011 Junior Olympic staff.
As a player, Sitler began his career at Newman College in Wichita, Kan., before playing three seasons at King College in Bristol, Tenn. During his collegiate career, he coached club programs in Bristol and Wichita and in the Houston area during the summers.
A Pearland, Texas, native, Sitler graduated from King College with a bachelor's degree in technical communication and political science in 2010. He also received his Master's degree in communication from UTPA in 2014.
HBU's sand volleyball program will begin official NCAA Division competition in the spring of 2016 and will be eligible for the first-ever NCAA Championship in the sport. The Huskies will be one of only two sand programs in the state of Texas and in the Southland Conference.
