HOUSTON – HBU sophomore forward Colter Lasher scored a career-high 28 points, but Stephen F. Austin was red-hot from 3-point range as the Lumberjacks held off the Huskies, 102-87, in Southland Conference basketball Saturday night at Sharp Gym.

Lasher made 8-of-13 from the field, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range, and 9-of-11 from the free throw line and led the Huskies (11-14, 6-9 SLC) with six rebounds. Junior guard Jourdan Stickler scored 10 points off the bench, while junior guard Anthony Odunsi and sophomore forward Alex Fountain each scored eight.

Jacob Parker scored 26 of his 30 points in the second half, hitting 7-of-8 from behind the arc for the Lumberjacks (24-4, 14-1). Thomas Walkup and Jared Johnson added 13 points apiece, Ty Charles scored 12 and grabbed nine rebounds, and Demetrious Floyd scored 11.

SFA shot 62 percent from the field, including 69.6 percent (16-for-23) from long distance and went 24-for-31 from the line. HBU shot 50 percent from the field, 6-fo-17 from behind the arc, and 27-of-32 from the line. The Lumberjacks outrebounded the Huskies, 29-24, but HBU won the turnover battle, 24-19.

The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 14-3 lead on a layup and a 3-pointer by Floyd. The Huskies trailed 29-15 at the midway point, but a Lasher three keyed a spurt that got them back within seven at 31-24 with 7:30 remaining. Johnson hit a three and made a pair of free throws that pushed SFA's lead back to 13 at 37-24 with 5:43 to go, but the Huskies scored on four-straight possessions to cut their deficit to 42-34 with 1:52 on the clock. Parker sank a pair of free throws to give the Lumberjacks an 11-point lead, but the Huskies scored six-straight to make it a five-point game with just under a minute remaining. Johnson nailed a three from the corner with four seconds left to send SFA into the break with a 50-41 advantage.

SFA opened the second half with a 10-0 run to take a 19-point lead, before Lasher got HBU on the board. The Lumberjacks led by 20 at 65-45 with 15:50 left, but the Huskies scored nine-straight points on a jumper by freshman center Josh Ibarra, a layup by senior guard Tyler Russell, a three by Fountain and a pair of free throws by junior guard Caleb Crayton to get it back to an 11-point game with 13:48 left. That would be the closest HBU would get the rest of the way.

The Huskies have three games remaining this season, back-to-back road games against Abilene Christian Tuesday and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday, before returning home to host Incarnate Word in the season finale Saturday, March 7 at Sharp Gym. As part of HBU Basketball's 50th Season celebration, the Huskies will honor their final All-Decade Team with the 2010s, and Marcel Smith, Tyler Russell and Ricmonds Vilde will be honored on Senior Night.
