ABILENE, Texas – HBU women's basketball is hoping the third time's the charm when the Huskies take on Abilene Christian Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7 pm from the Moody Coliseum in Abilene.

ACU leads the all-time series, 2-0, and defeated HBU, 53-50, last month in Sharp Gym.

HBU (11-14 overall, 5-9 SLC) knocked off visiting Incarnate Word, 67-64, Feb. 19. That win, coupled with Sam Houston State's loss at Central Arkansas Saturday, puts the Huskies and Bearkats tied for the final playoff spot.

Anna Strickland recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. She also tied career highs with six assists and six blocks - the latter stat more than the entire UIW team. Rachel Arthur and Erin McGarrachan led the Huskies with 15 points apiece.

Shanice Steenholdt continues to be the only player in the conference to average a double-double, with 17.8 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per contest. Arthur is 21st in the conference with 10.9 points per game, as she has scored in double figures in five-straight contests. Strickland is second with 1.9 blocked shots and seventh with 8.1 boards per contest.

As a team, the Huskies lead the conference with a 45.5 field-goal percentage and a +6.4 rebounding margin. HBU is second with 4.88 blocked shots per game.

Abilene Christian (15-10 overall, 7-7 SLC) is on a four-game winning streak following an 83-65 victory at Southeastern Louisiana Saturday.

Reigning SLC Player of the Week, Suzzy Dimba, scored a game-high 23 points against SELA and leads the team with 70 assists and 63 steals. Her 12.0 points per game are second behind Sydney Shelstead's 12.7. Shelstead also leads the team with 8.8 rebounds per game, which places her second in the conference. The Wildcats shoot 40 percent from the floor compared to 38 percent for their opponents.

Following the contest, HBU returns home versus Stephen F. Austin Saturday at 4 pm. Prior to the game, the Huskies' five seniors will be recognized: Maisie Elston, Tayler Jefferson, McGarrachan, Ashleigh Nwanguma, and Steenholdt.
