HOUSTON – After an important win over Sam Houston State last Saturday to keep playoff hopes alive, HBU women's basketball will look to keep the momentum going when the Huskies host Incarnate Word Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7 pm in Sharp Gym.

The meeting is the first this season between the two schools. The Huskies and Cardinals meet in the season finale March 7 in San Antonio.

HBU leads the all-time series, 3-0, and won the only meeting between the two schools last season: 70-65 in San Antonio.

HBU (10-14 overall, 4-9 SLC) defeated visiting Sam Houston State, 66-61, in a key Southland Conference matchup. Not only did the win even the season series with the Bearkats, but it moved the Huskies into ninth place, one game behind SHSU, who holds the final playoff spot.

Rachel Arthur scored a career-high 25 points on 12-of-19 shooting and 1-of-1 from beyond the arc. She also dished out three assists and forced three steals. Erin McGarrachan and Tayler Jefferson scored 15 and 11 points, respectively. Heidi Sihvola set a new career high with seven assists, as she scored five points and pulled down four rebounds.

On the season, Shanice Steenholdt remains the only player in the conference to average a double-double, as she leads the league with 10.3 rebounds per game and is second with 17.8 points per contest. Arthur is 25th with 10.7 points per game. Both she and Jefferson average 30.1 minutes per game. Anna Strickland is second in the conference with 1.7 blocked shots per game and seventh with 8.0 boards per contest. As a team, HBU leads the conference in field-goal percentage (45.6) and rebounding margin (+6.8).

Incarnate Word (5-18 overall, 2-10 SLC) is on an eight-game losing streak following a 58-49 defeat at Central Arkansas Feb. 15.

Aricka Adams scored a team-high 16 points against UCA and leads the team with 13.8 points per game on the season. Yvonne Maosa is second with 8.7 points per game and leads the Cardinals with 7.3 rebounds per contest. Jazmine Holman is tied-for-first in the conference with 2.6 steals per game and fourth with 4.1 assists per contest.

Following the game, HBU plays at Abilene Christian next Wednesday at 7 pm before hosting Stephen F. Austin Saturday, Feb. 28 at 4 pm on "Senior Day."
