As part of HBU Basketball's 50th Season celebration, the Huskies will announce and honor the All-Decade Team for the 1990s Saturday. There will be a free tailgate, complete with food and drinks, sponsored by the Tip-Off Club prior to the game.
Junior guard
Anthony Odunsi leads the Huskies (11-10, 6-5 SLC) with 12.5 points and 2.8 assists per game and has scored at least 20 points in two of the last three games. Sophomore forward
Colter Lasher adds 11.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while freshman center
Josh Ibarra leads HBU with 6.4 rebounds per game and is fifth in the nation among freshmen with 2.15 blocks per game. He is also one of five other Huskies averaging at least six points per game.
The Bearkats (19-5, 10-1) are led by DeMarcus Gatlin, who averages 11.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, and Kaheem Ransom, who averages 10.4 points and 4.1 assists per game. Jabari Peters is just under double figures at 9.7 points per game, and four other players average at least 7.9 points per game, including Michael Holyfield, who leads SHSU with 8.2 rebounds per contest.
HBU is coming off a 77-66 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Monday. Odunsi poured in a career-high 22 points, while Lasher had 16 points and eight rebounds. SHSU defeated Texas College, 88-39, Monday in non-conference play.
The Bearkats lead the all-time series against HBU, 9-7, and won the first meeting this season, 63-52, two weeks ago in Huntsville. Senior center
Ricmonds Vilde and Lasher scored in double figures for HBU, while Ransom and Peters scored in double figures for SHSU.
The Huskies will be on the road for four of their final six games and return to action when they travel to face Lamar Monday at 7 p.m. in Beaumont, Texas.
