But visiting Texas State went 9-for-10 from the free throw line in the final 1:35 to defeat HBU women's basketball, 71-66, Wednesday night from Sharp Gym.

Adriiana Jackson tied her career high with a team-best 16 points, as she went a personal-best 4-for-6 from beyond the arc for HBU (4-4). Senior forward
Anna Strickland registered her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, while also posting five assists, four steals, and one blocked shot. Senior guard
Rachel Arthur became the 10th player in program history to score 1,000 career points, as she dropped 14 against the Bobcats.
Lisa Zderadicka scored a season-high 11 points. As a team, HBU shot 39 percent from the floor.
Kaitlin Walla scored a game-high 21 points to lead Texas State (5-4), while Taeler Deer and Ayriel Anderson netted 12 and 11 points, respectively. Ericka May was the top rebounder for the Bobcats with 11. As a team, Texas State shot 39 percent from the floor.
Texas State led by five midway through the first quarter following two free throws by Whitney Apari. Arthur forced a steal which resulted in a Strickland jumper to cut the deficit to three, 12-9. The Bobcats increased their lead back up to five, but HBU scored the quarter's final seven points, culminated by a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Arthur, to lead after one quarter, 14-12.
Raven Burns gave the Bobcats the lead back 39 seconds into the second quarter with a trey. The teams exchanged leads throughout the quarter before the Huskies used a 6-0 run to take a five-point lead, 25-20, with 4:32 left in the first half. The Bobcats came back and took a one-point lead, 30-29, following a three-pointer by Walla with 1:20 remaining. Jackson answered with a trey of her own to give HBU a two-point lead. But Kiani Lurry forced a steal at midcourt and went in on a fast-break layup at the buzzer to tie the game at 32-all at the break.
Arthur and Walla led their respective teams with 10 points apiece. Shooting percentages were also nearly even as HBU shot 40 percent from the floor, compared to 39 percent for Texas State. The first half featured 10 lead changes and three ties.
HBU opened the second half on a 7-2 run to take a 39-34 lead with 6:10 remaining. The Bobcats answered with another three-pointer by Walla and two May free throws for the fourth tie of the game, 39-all with 5:28 left in the third quarter. Knotted at 41-all, Texas State closed the quarter on a 13-3 run to take an eight-point lead, 52-44.
Texas State continued its run, eventually taking a 13-point lead with 6:49 left in regulation. That's when HBU made its move. Back-to-back layups by Zderadicka cut the deficit in single digits, while
Monet Neal had consecutive charges to give HBU the ball back. Two Strickland free throws cut the deficit to one, 60-59, and prompted a Texas State timeout. Walla made two free throws to increase the Bobcat lead to three, but was answered by a three-pointer by Jackson to tie the game at 62-all with 1:35 left in regulation. But Texas State went 9-for-10 from the charity stripe and ended the game on a 9-4 run.
HBU hosts UT Arlington Saturday at 1 p.m.
