HOUSTON – The HBU women's basketball team opens a three-game home stand Wednesday night against Texas State. First tip is set for 7 p.m. from Sharp Gym.

HBU took a 2-1 series lead over the Bobcats with a 61-56 win Nov. 22, 2014, in San Marcos.

HBU (4-3) has won two straight games and four of the last five following a 77-65 win at Texas Southern on Dec. 5, the first win over the Lady Tigers since Jan. 13, 2009, and the first ever on TSU's home floor. Anna Strickland posted her fourth double-double of the season with game high of 20 points and 14 rebounds. Monet Neal scored a season-high 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds as she eventually earned Southland Conference Player of the Week accolades. On the season, Strickland leads the conference in rebounds per game (13.0; T-7th in the nation), is second in blocked shots per game (1.7), and seventh in points per game (14.1). Rachel Arthur is 29th in the nation with a 57.4 field-goal percentage. As a team, HBU is shooting 40 percent from the floor compared to 42 percent for its opponents.

Texas State evened its record at 4-4 following an 80-60 win over Texas A&M-Commerce on Dec. 13. Kaitlin Walla scored a game-high 23 points behind five 3-pointers. Her 10.4 points per game on the season trail Taeler Deer's 14.3 (8th in the Sun Belt Conference). Deer also leads the Bobcats in steals (15) and her 15 assists are one behind leader Kiani Lurry. As a team, Texas State is shooting 37 percent from the floor compared to 46 percent for its opponents.

Following Wednesday's tilt, the Huskies welcome another Sun Belt member, UT Arlington, to Sharp Gym on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. before closing the 2015 portion of the schedule against Huston-Tillotson on Monday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m.
