Live VideoGame NotesSAN ANTONIO – HBU women's basketball will participate in the UTSA Thanksgiving Tournament, held Friday-Sunday, from the Convocation Center.
The Huskies take on first-time opponent Nebraska Omaha Friday at 2 p.m. and conclude the tournament against the host Roadrunners Sunday at 2 p.m. The lone meeting between HBU and UTSA came in the Huskies' inaugural season, where the Roadrunners came away with a 66-56 victory on Nov. 30, 1999 in San Antonio.
HBU (1-2) earned its first win of the season with a 95-42 win over Paul Quinn on Nov. 20.
Rachel Arthur dropped a game-high 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while
Anna Strickland registered her second double-double in as many games, tying her career high of 20 points and pulling down a Southland Conference season-best 16 rebounds.
Adriiana Jackson scored a career-high 16 points. On the season, Strickland leads the conference in rebounding (11.3), third in points (17.7), and tied-for-first in blocked shots (3.0) per game. Nationally, she is T-34th in rebounding, T-17th in blocked shots, and T-20th in double-doubles (2). As a team, HBU is shooting 43 percent from the floor compared to 39 percent for its opponents.
UNO (3-1) is on a two-game winning streak following a 97-32 victory over Waldorf Tuesday night. Marissa Preston scored a career-high 21 points in the win. Mikaela Preston leads the Mavericks on the season in points per game (17.0), rebounds per game (7.0), and steals (8). Her 16 assists are three behind leader Amber Vidal. As a team, Omaha is shooting 43 percent from the floor compared to 30 percent for its opponents.
Following the tournament, HBU remains in Houston for the entire month of December, beginning with a home tilt against Trinity on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m.
