Live StatsGame NotesHOUSTON – HBU women's basketball welcomes Paul Quinn College to Sharp Gym on Friday in the Huskies' home opener. First tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
HBU leads the all-time series, 16-0. The former Red River Athletic Conference rivals last met Feb. 5, 2007 in a 67-50 HBU win in Sharp Gym.
In the Huskies' last game, HBU (0-2) could not overcome a 21 first-quarter deficit in a 98-63 loss at UTEP on Nov. 15.
Rachel Arthur led the Huskies with 16 points, while
Anna Strickland posted her first double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Strickland is ninth in the Southland Conference with 16.5 points per game in the young season, while Arthur is T-19th with 11.5. Strickland's 9.0 rebounds per game give her a share of second in the conference, while
Monet Neal is eighth with 3.0 steals per game. The Huskies as a team are shooting 32 percent from the floor compared to 47 percent for their opponents.
Paul Quinn (1-1) has not played since an 81-61 loss at Philander Smith College on Nov. 3. Te'Anna Washington leads the Lady Tigers with 19.5 points per game. Levette Jiles and Joydazia Norman follow with 11.5 and 11.0 points per game, respectively. Norman is tops with 7.5 rebounds per contest. Both the Lady Tigers and their opposition are shooting 54 percent from the floor.
Following the contest, HBU will compete in the UTSA Thanksgiving Tournament held Nov. 27-29. The Huskies play Nebraska Omaha on Nov. 27 and the host Roadrunners two days later. Both games are scheduled for 2 p.m.
