The Huskies (15-14, 7-7 SLC) will look to conclude their conference slate with momentum on their side heading into the SLC Tournament. HBU is currently tied for sixth in the standings, holding the fifth seed in the tournament with Abilene Christian being ineligible while in transition to NCAA Division I status.
On the season, junior outside hitter
Jessica Wooten leads the HBU offense and ranks 25th in the nation (third in the conference) with 107 service aces. The native of Humble, Texas, also ranks sixth overall (3.27) in the league and seventh in SLC play (3.37) in kills per set.
Senior middle blocker
Allison Doerpinghaus leads the conference with 1.25 blocks per set in SLC-only matches, also ranking sixth with a .329 clip. Taking all matches into account, Doerpinghaus is third in blocks per set (1.01) and seventh in hitting percentage (.317).
Junior libero
Melissa Fuchs ranks fifth in the conference with an average of 4.29 digs per set in league play, while junior setter
Kayla Armer ranks third overall in assists with 9.87 per set on the season.
Collectively, the Huskies sit third in the SLC in blocks (2.17) and fifth in opponent hitting percentage (.196).
The Cardinals (13-15, 3-11 SLC) enter Thursday's meeting on an eight-match skid since October 13. Lamar ranks second in the conference in hitting percentage, swinging a .219 clip. The Cardinals are led by middle blockers Chelsea Grant and Cortney Moore, who rank third and fourth in the SLC with .369 and .330 attack efficiencies.
Following Thursday, the Huskies will visit Sam Houston State in the regular season finale. The Bearkats (12-16, 6-8 SLC) are third in the conference in kills (12.50 per set), digs (15.97 per set) and opponent hitting percentage (.182), and fourth in assists (11.63 per set). Individually, SHSU's junior setter Michelle Griffith is second in the conference with 10.24 assists per set, while sophomore outside hitter Jordyn Vaughn is fourth in the conference with 3.38 kills per set.
The Huskies beat both Lamar (3-2) and SHSU (3-0) in Sharp Gym earlier this season.
After Saturday, HBU will head to the SLC Tournament at Central Arkansas, getting underway on November 20.
