Men’s Basketball Wraps Up Road Swing at Nicholls

Huskies finish off three-game Louisiana stretch before returning for three-game homestand.

THIBODAUX, La. - HBU finishes off a three-game Louisiana road wing against Nicholls in Southland Conference basketball Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Stopher Gym. The audio broadcast with Lonnie King can be heard on HBUHuskies.com, beginning at 6:15 with the pregame show.
 
The Huskies (6-7, 1-2 SLC) are led by junior guard Anthony Odunsi, who averages 11.4 points per game and 13.3 points per game in conference play. Sophomore forward Colter Lasher averages 11.2 points per game, and senior guard Marcel Smith adds 8.5 points per game and is averaging 10.0 points per game in league games. Sophomore forward Reveal Chukwujekwu chips in with 7.3 points per game, 9.3 in SLC play. Freshman center Josh Ibarra leads HBU with 7.0 rebounds per game, which ranks 11th among all freshmen, and ranks 26th nationally with 2.75 blocked shots per game.
 
Amin Torres paces Nicholls (3-9, 0-2) with 13.3 points per game, with T.J. Carpenter averaging 10.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Ja'Dante' Frye adds 8.4 points per game, and Sam McBeath averages 7.2 points per game and leads the Colonels with 6.7 boards per contest.
 
HBU dropped a 87-67 decision at Southeastern Louisiana Saturday and were led by a career-high tying 18-point performance by Odunsi. Chukwujekwu also tied his career high with 12, and Ibarra had 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Nicholls fell at Abilene Christian, 71-54, with Carpenter leading the Colonels with 14 points.
 
Nicholls leads the all-time series against HBU, 11-10, with the Colonels winning both meetings last year. Nicholls clipped HBU, 66-64, on McBeath's last second shot on Jan. 15, 2014, in Thibodaux, then downed the Huskies, 75-62, on March 6, 2014, in Houston.
 
The Huskies return for a three-game homestand, beginning with New Orleans Saturday at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym, and will not leave the state of Texas for the rest of the season.
