Photo GalleryHOUSTON – Last Saturday morning, Sept. 27, the inaugural "Paws for a Cause" was held on the HBU campus, urging people to come walk their dogs for a good cause.
About 70 people and volunteers came with their four-legged friends for a one-mile trek around the HBU campus, led by HBU's own mascot, Kiza. Together, the inaugural event raised over $1,200 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Cancer Society.
The event was led by the HBU softball and women's basketball teams and head coaches
Mary-Ellen Hall and
Donna Finnie, respectively. Many thanks to Panera Bread, Molly's Mutt House, and the Rover Oaks Pet Resort for their generous donations to "Paws for a Cause."
Prizes were awarded after the walk, such as Best Costume, Waggiest Tail, Best Owner-Dog Look-Alike, and the person who brought the most dogs won a bag of dog food and a trip to Rover Oaks.
