Tournament NotesHBU-Lipscomb Live StatsHBU-Belmont Live StatsNASHVILLE, Tenn. – The HBU men's soccer team will compete in a mid-week tournament, as the Huskies will take part in the Hyatt Place Select Lipscomb Invitational Sept. 17-19.
HBU will face the host Bisons Wednesday at 7 pm and will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the pitch. The Huskies will conclude the invitational against Belmont Friday at 5 pm. HBU won the only meeting between the two schools, 4-2, back in 2010 in Houston.
Thilo Borgmann scored his first goal of the season to give HBU (0-1-2) a 1-0 lead, but IUPUI scored three second-half goals in the Jaguars' 3-1 win last Saturday night.
Both Borgmann and
Gustavo Alvarado recorded their first points of the season, as Alvarado earned an assist Saturday.
Patrick Toh leads the team with two goals and five points, while
Tobenna Uzo has four points on a goal and two helpers.
Kevin Suarez is 0-1-2 in goal with a 1.74 goals-against average and a .769 save percentage. He has made 20 saves in 310 minutes.
After starting the season 4-0-0 and receiving votes in the NSCAA poll, Lipscomb (4-1-0) suffered its first loss of the season to James Madison, 1-0, Sunday at the Belmont Invitational.
Matt Kerridge leads the team with seven points, while he and Luke Gearin have three goals apiece.
Micah Bledsoe and Nate Davis have split time between the pipes for Lipscomb. Bledsoe is 2-1-0 with a 1.00 GAA, a .769 save percentage, and one shutout, while Davis is 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and a .700 save percentage.
Belmont (1-5-0) earned its first win of the season, as the Bruins shutout Gardner-Webb, 2-0, in their own tournament Sunday.
Nat Hubert leads Belmont with two goals and four points, while Joao Fonseca and Adriano Balani each have a goal.
Grayson Rector is 1-5-0 with a 2.10 GAA and a .658 save percentage.
