CARSON, Calif. – Former HBU men's soccer forward, Kristopher Tyrpak, signed with Major League Soccer's Chivas USA, just two months after being selected by the squad in the MLS SuperDraft.

Tyrpak, who was drafted in the third round, and 40th overall, signed after having an impressive preseason with the "Red-and-White." He played in seven preseason matches, the last coming in a scoreless tie on Feb. 26 against the Colorado Rapids in the 2014 Desert Diamond Cup. In that match, Tyrpak played all 90 minutes.

Chivas USA is currently 1-0-1 on the young regular season. Tyrpak appeared in his first regular season match against Vancouver on March 16. The Goats will next play at FC Dallas on March 22 at 7:30 pm. Chivas USA will host the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, May 3 at 9:30 pm CST.

Tyrpak played in all 18 matches with 17 starts in 2013 for HBU. He was second on the team with five goals and 17 points. He led the team with seven assists. He was named First Team All-WAC and was team captain. His 56 career points places him seventh in the HBU record books. Tyrpak is also ranked second with 5134 career minutes played, third with 20 assists, tied-for-fifth with 65 games played, and fifth with 63 games started.

In his collegiate career, Tyrpak was named 2010 Atlantic Soccer Conference Rookie of the Year and ASC First Team All-Conference, 2011 ASC Second Team, and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Second Team All-Conference.
