Men's Basketball Finishes Home-and-Home With Corpus

Huskies take on Islanders for second-straight Saturday in Southland Conference play.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - HBU will play its final road game of the season as it faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the second-straight weekend in Southland Conference basketball Saturday at 7 p.m. at American Bank Center. The Legacy Sports Network broadcast with Lonnie King can be heard on HBUHuskies.com beginning at 6:40 p.m. with the pregame show.
 
The Huskies (6-22, 2-13 SLC) are led by sophomore guard Rob Lewis, who averages 12.4 points per game and sophomore forward Cody Joyce, who adds 10.2 points per game. Freshman forward Colter Lasher has scored in double figures in five of the last seven games, and junior center Ricmonds Vilde has scored in double figures in four of the last seven games. Vilde leads HBU on the glass with 4.8 rebounds per game.
 
John Jordan leads the Islanders (14-14, 11-4) with 15.2 points and 5.2 assists per game, while Rashawn Thomas averages 10.9 points per game. Zane Knowles leads TAMU-CC with 7.5 rebounds per game.
 
The Islanders downed the Huskies, 66-61, last Saturday in Houston. Ali Hameed led TAMU-CC with 13 points, Brandon Pye had 11 and Knowles posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Vilde had 13 points and seven boards for the Huskies, while Lewis had 12 and sophomore guard Caleb Crayton and junior guard Marcel Smith each had 10.
 
HBU returns home for its final two games of the season against Nicholls State Thursday and McNeese State Saturday at Sharp Gym.
