HOUSTON – After a season-high four-game road swing, the HBU women's basketball team returns home for the next three games, beginning with the annual "Play 4 Kay" game Thursday against Oral Roberts at 5 pm at Sharp Gym.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink and there will be a donation box in the lobby. Memorial Hermann will be at the game to pass out information, and there will also be free pink cookies for HBU students.
HBU concludes the weekend with a 3 pm tip against Southland Conference-leader Central Arkansas Saturday.
ORU leads the all-time series, 3-0, and defeated the Huskies, 85-73, Jan. 2 in Tulsa.
Shanice Steenholdt scored a game-high 32 points, while
Heidi Sihvola scored a career-high 12 points in the contest. UCA leads the series, 3-1, and won the last meeting in Conway, 67-54, Jan. 4.
Erin McGarrachan and Steenholdt each scored 10 points in the game.
In the Huskies' (10-13 overall, 6-6 SLC) last game, two days after turning the ball over a season-high 30 times in a loss at Abilene Christian Feb. 6, HBU converted a conference season-low 13 turnovers in the Huskies' 70-65 win over Incarnate Word on Feb. 8.
Rachel Arthur finished one point shy of tying her career high as she scored 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Steenholdt earned her 12th double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Steenholdt is tied with Nicholls' Emani White for the lead in conference points per game, with 18.2. She is tied for fourth with 9.7 conference rebounds per game. In overall stats, Steenholdt is second with 17.9 points per game and third with 9.5 rebounds per game.
Tayler Jefferson leads the team with 94 assists, 26 made three-pointers, and a 34 percent three-point percentage.
Christian Key's three-pointer at the buzzer gave Oral Roberts (7-14 overall, 6-5 SLC) an 81-78 win over visiting Southeastern Louisiana Feb. 8.
Key finished with 17 points. Kaylan Mayberry scored a game-high 21 points.
On the season, Key leads ORU with 14.0 points per game, followed by Mayberry with 10.9. Sarah Shelton is the top rebounder with 8.1 boards per game.
Central Arkansas (15-7 overall, 9-2 SLC) defeated New Orleans, 62-30. The Sugar Bears have won six of their last seven games.
Courtney Duever leads the team with 14.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Maggie Proffitt and Brianna Mullins average 11.0 and 10.4 points per game, respectively.
