Texas Tech TVLive AudioLive StatsGame NotesLUBBOCK, Texas – HBU concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule when the Huskies take on Texas Tech Tuesday at 7 pm from the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas.
The game will be televised live on Texas Tech TV. The matchup will be the second all-time between the Huskies and Lady Raiders. The previous meeting came in Lubbock Jan. 3, 2011.
Five players scored in double figures as HBU (6-4) defeated visiting Huston-Tillotson, 86-36, Sunday.
Anna Strickland set new career highs of 17 points and 18 rebounds, while
Erin McGarrachan also had a double-double (17 pts, 11 rbs).
Meghan Shank set new personal marks of 15 points and seven steals.
HBU led HTU, 43-9, at halftime, the first the Huskies held an opponent to single digits in a half in more than a decade (3/3/2003).
For the season,
Shanice Steenholdt continues to lead the Southland Conference with 20.7 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.
Tayler Jefferson follows with 11.0 points per game, as she leads the Huskies with 42 assists, 12 three-pointers made, and a 36 three-point percentage. Strickland leads the team with 18 blocks and is second with 6.4 rebounds per game.
As a team, the Huskies are shooting 49 percent from the floor, compared to 39 percent for their opponents.
Texas Tech (9-2) won its fifth-straight game as the Lady Raiders defeated Houston, 60-54, Dec. 21 to conclude the TTU Athletes in Action Tournament. Amber Battle had a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds.
For the season, Battle leads the Lady Raiders with 15.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Minta Spears and Kelsi Baker follow with 11.0 and 10.5 points per game, respectively. Rayven Brooks leads the team with nine blocks and 18 steals.
As a team, Texas Tech is shooting 40 percent from the floor, compared to 35 percent for its opponents.
After the game, HBU begins Southland Conference play hosting reigning SLC tournament champions, Northwestern State, Friday, Jan. 2 at 3 pm.
