Live AudioLive StatsGame NotesHOUSTON – After three-straight road games to start the season, the HBU women's basketball team hosts Southwestern Assemblies of God Tuesday night, Nov. 25 at 6:30 pm in the Huskies' home opener.
HBU leads the all-time series, 17-0, as the last meeting was back in the 2006-07 season, when both teams were a member of the Red River Athletic Conference.
Shanice Steenholdt led all players with 19 points and 16 rebounds, registering her second double-double of the season and the 41st of her career, as HBU (1-2) defeated Texas State in San Marcos, 61-56, Saturday.
Tayler Jefferson scored 15 points.
Lisa Zderadicka had seven points, five assists, and three rebounds, while
Anna Strickland had five points, five boards, two blocks and three steals off the bench.
Steenholdt is averaging a double-double on the season with 19.7 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Jefferson is averaging 11.7 points per game with a team-best 12 assists.
The Huskies are shooting 41 percent from the floor, compared to 42 percent for their opponents.
SAGU (3-3) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 93-48 win over Paul Quinn College Thursday. Charity Page came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points, while Monica Dorsey and Jirah Rodriguez each scored 10.
For the season, Taylor Hill leads the Lady Lions with 9.0 points per game, followed by Meghan Becker with 8.5. Kassy Cox averages a team-best 9.8 rebounds per game.
SAGU is shooting 40 percent from the floor, compared to 34 percent for its opponents.
After Tuesday's game, the Huskies will enjoy Thanksgiving before heading back on the road to play at UT-Pan American Saturday, Nov. 29 at 2 pm.
