Allison Doerpinghaus had a total of five blocks for the Huskies.
Devene Wells-Gibson led the Bearkats with a match-high of 14 kills, along with 10 digs. Jordyn Vaughn recorded 11 kills for SHSU. Michelle Griffith had 36 assists for the Bearkats. Claire Kilpatrick recorded 13 digs for SHSU.
In the first set, the Huskies found themselves tied with the Bearkats 7-7. HBU then took a lead of 13-10, but SHSU battled back to tie the set later on 14-14. The Huskies led by as many as four points and continued their lead to take the set 26-24.
In the second set, HBU and SHSU were tied 1-1, but the Huskies scored three straight points to take a 4-1 lead. HBU's biggest lead was 18-8 and ended up scoring the last six points straight in order to win the set 25-11.
In the third set, a kill by Doerpinghaus helped the Huskies take a 6-4 lead. HBU kept their lead for most of the set, but SHSU fought back to cut their deficit 23-22. The Huskies then scored the last two points to win the set 25-22.
The Huskies outblocked the Bearkats 10-5. SHSU outhit HBU by three kills. The Huskies outdug the Bearkats 56-47.
The Huskies will return to action at the Southland Conference Tournament Friday, Nov. 21 in Natchitoches, La., where they will be either the fifth or the sixth seed.
