FORT WORTH, Texas – HBU women's basketball will look to begin the 2014-15 campaign off on the right foot when the Huskies take on TCU Friday at 7 pm. The Huskies conclude the road trip with a 3 pm Sunday tip at UT Arlington.

Bill Cousins will call the action both games on Legacy Sports Network on HBUHuskies.com.

TCU leads the all-time series, 2-0, but the Huskies and Horned Frogs haven't met since the 2010-11 campaign. UT Arlington leads the all-time series, 4-1, but HBU defeated the Mavs in last season's opener, 72-60.

HBU (12-17 in 2013-14) returns 12 letterwinners and all five starters from a 2013-14 squad that won the most games since the return to Division I and almost made the Southland Conference Tournament in its first season in the conference.

The Huskies are led by 2013-14 First Team All-Conference and 2014-15 Preseason First Team All-Conference selection Shanice Steenholdt, who was second in the SLC with 18.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. She led the Huskies with 51 blocks and 50 steals. Guard Rachel Arthur had a fantastic sophomore campaign last season, as she finished second on the team with 11.9 points per game. She and Tayler Jefferson averaged a team-best 32 minutes per game. Arthur scored a career-high 21 points three times.

HBU brings in three newcomers: 6-4 post Caro Lloyd, 6-2 post Carissa Diaz, and 5-6 guard Lisa Zderadicka.

TCU (18-15 in 2013-14) reached the WNIT last season, losing at Colorado in the first round, 78-71.

The Horned Frogs return nine letterwinners and four starters from a season ago. Leading the charge is junior guard Zahna Medley, who led the team with 17.1 points per game, 123 assists, 80 three-point field goals made, and a 38 three-point percentage. Natalie Ventress is the leading returning rebounder, who averaged 4.5 boards a game.

UTA (4-25 in 2013-14) will have a new look this season, as the Mavs bring in nine newcomers. Only four letterwinners return and UTA has three starters back. The Mavs host Missouri Valley College Friday night before hosting the Huskies.

Senior Tahlia Pope leads returning scorers after averaging 7.5 points per game in 2013-14, while Chaun Williams scored 6.5 points a contest.

Following this weekend's contests, HBU plays at Texas State Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2 pm before playing in its home opener against Southwestern Assemblies of God Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 6:30 pm.
