SAN JOSÉ, Calif. – HBU men's soccer looks to move up in the conference standings this weekend, when the Huskies take on San José State Friday at 2 pm central and Bakersfield Sunday at 3 pm central.

The series between HBU and the Spartans is tied at 2-2-0, as HBU shut out SJSU last season, 5-0, in Houston. Bakersfield leads the all-time series, 3-0-1, and squeaked by the Huskies, 2-1, last season in California.

 HBU (1-5-2 overall, 0-2-0 WAC) was shut out by Incarnate Word for the second time in eight days, as the Cardinals defeated the Huskies, 2-0, Oct. 11 in Houston.
 
Patrick Toh leads the team with four goals and nine points, followed by Thilo Borgmann and Tobenna Uzo with seven and six points, respectively. Borgmann and Gustavo Alvarado have a team-best three assists apiece.
 
Kevin Suarez has seen most of the action in goal and is 0-4-2 with a 2.33 goals-against average, and a .717 save percentage. He has made 38 saves in 580 minutes.

San José State (3-7-1 overall, 1-1-1 WAC) went unbeaten on the road last weekend for the first time in two seasons, as the Spartans defeated Air Force, 5-1, and tied Kansas City, 1-1. Rory Knibbs was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week, as he had three goals on the week.
 
Knibbs leads the team with seven goals and 16 points, while Greg Harte follows with five goals and 10 points. Johnathan Colunga has a team-best six assists.
 
Emmanuel Espinoza and Felix Petermann have split time in goal. Espinoza is 1-3-0 with a 1.70 GAA and a .579 save percentage, while Petermann is 2-4-1 with a 1.91 GAA, a .705 save percentage, and one shutout.

Bakersfield (8-3-1 overall, 2-1-0 WAC) had a three-match winning streak snapped by Air Force, as the Falcons defeated CSUB, 4-2, Oct. 12.
 
Julian Zamora leads the team with eight goals and 16 points, while Simon Doherty has 15 points (6g, 3a) and Christian Duarte has 10 points (3g, 4a).
 
Nicolas Clever is 8-3-1 in goal with a 0.96 GAA, a .765 save percentage, and four shutouts. He has a shared shutout with Hector Valdez. Clever has made 39 saves in 1119 minutes while allowing just 12 goals.

After the California road trip, HBU returns home to host Grand Canyon and UNLV on Homecoming Weekend. The Huskies and 'Lopes meet Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 pm, followed by a 1 pm kick-off with UNLV on Sunday, Oct. 26.
