SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After a 10-day rest, the HBU men's soccer team begins Western Athletic Conference play Friday night against newcomer Incarnate Word. Kick-off is set for a 7:30 pm start.

UIW lead the all-time series, 3-2-0. The Huskies and Cardinals have met in past years in exhibitions, but Friday night will mark the first competitive meeting on the pitch in 24 years, since UIW defeated HBU 1-0 in the NAIA postseason on Nov. 3, 1990.

HBU (1-3-2 overall, 0-0-0 WAC) has not played since a hard-fought 4-3 overtime loss at Oral Roberts on Sept. 22. Thilo Borgmann set a new career high with three assists in that match, as he spearheaded a comeback that saw HBU erase a 3-1 deficit and force overtime with two goals in a span of four minutes. The equalizer came with seven minutes to go in regulation.

Patrick Toh leads the team with four goals and nine points. Borgmann is next with seven points, as he and Gustavo Alvarado have a team-best three assists.

Kevin Suarez has seen most of the action in goal. He is 0-2-2 with a 2.25 GAA, and a .737 save percentage. He has made 28 saves in 400 minutes. Philip Poser is 1-1-0 with a 1.92 GA, a .556 save percentage, and one shutout. He has made five saves in 187 minutes.

After earning its first win of the season Sept. 20 at Oakland (Mich.), Incarnate Word (1-6-0 overall, 0-0-0 WAC) dropped a 3-2 decision at Oral Roberts Tuesday night.

Noah Keats leads the Cardinals with three goals and seven points, followed by Dylan Kelly with two goals and five points.

Kieran O'Boyle has seen most of the action in goal and is 1-5-0 with a 1.81 GAA and a .645 save percentage. He has made 20 saves in 547 minutes.

After Friday's match, the two teams meet again, this time at Sorrels Field Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 pm.
