HOUSTON – HBU freshman setter
Kayla Armer led the Huskies with 33 assists and 12 digs in their 3-0(25-18, 25-22, 25-23) fall to Texas A&M Corpus Christi in their first ever Southland Conference match Thursday night at Sharp Gym.

Madeline Gaffney led the Huskies with 10 kills, which brought her match attack percentage to an overall .429. Freshman outside hitter
Jessica Wooten also contributed with eight kills. Junior defensive specialist
Haley Hoffman recorded nine digs for HBU (5-7, 0-1 SLC).
Ashley Phelps led the Islanders with 14 kills, while teammate Brianna Brink had 13 kills. Ivy Baresh also helped A&M Corpus Christi by recording 9 kills. Logen Bourque had 35 assists. Along with her kills, Baresh also had 12 digs. Hailey King had 11 digs.
Both HBU and A&M Corpus Christi had a team total of six blocks. The Islanders outdug the Huskies 56-46. HBU only trailed by 10 overall kills to the Islanders.
The Huskies return to action by beginning their four-game road trip Saturday, Sept. 21 against UTSA at the Convocation Center starting at 4 p.m. They will then play Sept. 26 at Lamar, followed by Sam Houston on Sept. 28. The Huskies conclude the trip Oct. 1 at Nicholls State.
