Men's Hoops Travels to ORU for Southland Opener

Huskies begin first season in new league.

TULSA, Okla. - HBU opens its first season of Southland Conference play when it hits the road to face Oral Roberts Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center. The game will be televised live on Fox College Sports and the Huskies' audio broadcast is available on HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (3-9) have three players averaging in double figures, led by sophomore guard Rob Lewis at 12.8 points per game. Lewis has come off the bench in all but three games and has scored in double figures in eight-straight and 20 of his last 21 games. Junior guard Tyler Russell adds 11.5 points per game, and sophomore forward Cody Joyce 10.1 points per game. Junior center Ricmonds Vilde leads HBU with 5.7 rebounds per game, and sophomore forward Dauson Womack adds 5.5 boards per game. Junior guard Marcel Smith paces the offense with a team-best 30 assists.
 
Shawn Glover leads Oral Roberts (6-7) and the Southland Conference in scoring with 20.4 points per game. The Golden Eagles' second-leading scorer at 19.0 points per game, Obi Emegano, has missed the last eight games. Korey Billbury averages 11.3 points and leads ORU with 6.1 rebounds per game.
 
The Huskies have dropped four-straight after a 76-64 loss at Pepperdine in their last game before Christmas break on Dec. 21. The Golden Eagles lost to No. 9 Baylor, 81-55, Monday night in Waco.
 
Thursday's matchup marks the first-ever matchup between the two schools. ORU will visit Houston on Feb. 13, but the Golden Eagles will be returning to the Summit League next season.
 
The Huskies wrap up the trip against Central Arkansas Saturday at 4 p.m. in Conway.
