HOUSTON – Riding on a four-match winning streak, the HBU men's soccer team begins Western Athletic Conference play at UMKC Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 pm.

Saturday will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

HBU (5-2-0) won its fourth-straight match with a 2-0 win over Oral Roberts in the Huskies' home opener on Oct. 1. The win marked the Huskies' first shutout on the season and the four-straight wins are the most since the 2010 Huskies won five straight. The 5-2 record is the best seven-match start since the 2007 squad also started 5-2. The Huskies are currently ranked 57th in the nation in the latest NCAA poll, the best ranking since the program's resurrection back in 2006.

Tobenna Uzo scored both goals against ORU, bringing his total to a WAC-leading six and seven, good for 14 points. Kyle Herbison is second on the team with two goals and seven points. He leads the team with three assists.

George Kelley started the first six matches in goal and posted a 4-2-0 record, a 1.70 GAA, and a .577 save percentage. Regular goalkeeper Kevin Suarez came back from injury and started the match against ORU. He is 1-0-0 on the season with a 0.00 GAA and a 1.000 save percentage, as he made three saves.

UMKC (1-4-3) ran its winless streak to three matches (0-2-1) with a 1-0 loss at Drake on Sept. 28. Despite only having one win so far this season, the 'Roos tied 13th-ranked Tulsa 1-1 back on Sept. 13.

On the season, Jordan Rideout and Tato Chiaparro lead the team with two goals and four points.

Chris McGaughey and Kevin Corby have split time in goal. McGaughey is 1-4-1 with a 1.79 GAA, a .757 save percentage, and one shutout. Corby is 0-0-2 with a 0.55 GAA and a .882 save percentage.
