Running back B.J. Kelly has been named to the CFPA Freshman Performer of the Year Watch List.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – HBU running back B.J. Kelly has been added to the College Football Performance Awards National Freshman Performer of the Year Watch Lists, as the organization released both lists for both the FBS and FCS levels.

"We are excited for B.J. Kelly and for the entire HBU football community in the honor of being placed on the CFPA National Freshman of the Year Watch List," HBU head coach Vic Shealy said. "B.J. is well-deserving of this recognition in that he continues to set a high standard of commitment and achievement in our program. As we start up a football program here at HBU, he is joined by many other freshmen in our program that are striving to build something very special here in Houston."

Through four games this season, Kelly has 324 rushing yards, three touchdowns and is averaging 5.0 yards per carry for the Huskies. He is leading the team with 554 all-purpose yards, adding 216 yards on kickoff returns. In a 52-28 victory at Wayland Baptist on Sept. 14, Kelly ran for 178 yards and a touchdown, then scored a pair of touchdowns in a 34-3 win over Oklahoma Baptist on Sept. 28.

Kelly was one of 32 FCS selections, and one of five from current or future Southland Conference programs.
