HOUSTON – Houston Baptist continues Great West Conference play by playing its second-straight conference game on the road, this time at Chicago State on Sat., Jan. 26 at 1 pm.

HBU is 0-6 all-time against the Cougars. The last meeting was a 63-41 CSU win on Feb. 16, 2012, in Chicago. Devyn Weymouth scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for HBU, while Natalie Marlowe scored a game-high 23 points for the Cougars.

HBU (4-15, 0-1 GWC) was outscored in the second half 46-25, as the Huskies shot just 19% compared to UT-Pan American's 55%, in UTPA's 71-45 win on Jan. 19.

Erin McGarrachan scored a career-high 18 points in the loss, also grabbing eight rebounds, with one assist and one steal. Shanice Steenholdt grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, while adding six points, one assist, and two blocks.

Joyea Marshall and Jasmine Thompson each scored 11 points for UTPA, while Johnondra Patterson added 10.

On the season, Steenholdt leads the Huskies with 17.1 ppg, 9.9 rpg, 31 blocks, and 46 steals. Tayler Jefferson is second with 9.6 ppg, while McGarrachan is third with 8.8 ppg and second with 6.4 rpg. Jefferson leads the team with 43 assists, 27 made three-pointers, and an 88% free-throw percentage.

Chicago State (2-17, 1-1 GWC) snapped a 15-game losing streak with a 58-57 home win over NJIT on Jan. 19. NJIT's Rayven Johnson had the chance to tie the game with 1:41 left in regulation, but only made one of two free throws. The Cougars host CSU Bakersfield Thursday night before playing the Huskies.

Jasmine Collins and Paris Williams each scored 15 points for CSU, while P. Williams had a team-high 11 rebounds.

Uju Nwankwo led NJIT with 14 points and 12 boards.

Tierra Williams leads CSU with 8.5 ppg on the season, while P. Williams is second with 7.7 ppg. Layne Murphy leads the Cougars with 6.0 rpg.
