HOUSTON – Houston Baptist begins its final season in the Great West Conference as the Huskies head south on 59 to Edinburg, Texas, to face the UT-Pan American Broncs on Sat., Jan. 19 at 4:30 pm.

Rachel Arthur's career-high 20 points led four Huskies in double figures, but HBU (4-14, 0-0 GWC) dropped an 88-75 decision to visiting CSU Bakersfield on Jan. 15.

Arther went 8-of-12 from the floor in her career night, while Shanice Steenholdt had a double-double of 16 points and 10 boards. She set a new career high with five blocks and tied her career mark seven steals. Tayler Jefferson scored 11 points and Devyn Weymouth added 10.

Amber Williams scored a game-high 30 points for the Roadrunners. She has scored 61 points in the last two games.

On the season, Steenholdt leads the Huskies with 17.7 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 29 blocks, and 46 steals. Jefferson is second on the team with 9.7 ppg and Erin McGarrachan is third with 8.2 ppg. Jefferson leads the Huskies with 42 assists, 26 three-pointers, and an 88% free-throw percentage.

UTPA (6-12, 0-2 GWC) snapped a six-game losing streak with a 74-58 win over Huston-Tillotson on Jan. 16.

Joyea Marshall led the Broncs with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Bianca Torre scored 12 points and Jasmine Thompson chipped in with 10.

Shaniqua Thomas led HTU with 15 points and 10 boards.

Thompson leads UTPA on the season with 8.6 ppg, followed closely by Marshall with 8.5 ppg. Cassandra Moody is the top rebounder, averaging 7.3 boards a game. She also has 23 of the team's 53 blocks.
